Action Networks will be fluid, flexible, product-oriented groups that can come and go in response to member initiatives. Examples of their work might be policy statements, tool identification or development, information exchange, or publication development. Forming Action Networks will be encouraged and supported at annual conferences.
CDS will support each Action Network by:
- Hosting the Action Network's listserv (with the understanding that lack of activity in the listserv after three months will result in termination of the listserv;
- Notifying CDS members through an e-mail announcement, Vanguard publication, and the CDS website of the formation of an Action Network and an open invitation to join the Action Network;
- Providing a place on the website to post the Action Network products; and
- Providing logistical support to move the suggested actions forward, as is feasible and as long as those actions are in keeping with CDS mission and Principles of Good Practice.
Forming an Action Network
CDS members (two or more) should:
- Prepare a brief statement of their proposed action (topic and action focus) how their proposed study/action relates to the Principles of Best Practice, and the approximate time they expect the Action Network to function.
- Submit it to the Vice President for Operations and to the CDS management office.
- The Executive Committee will be informed and in turn will let the general membership know about the new Action Network and how to participate in it.
- Action Network participation need not be limited to only CDS members. Members can invite others interested in the work of the Action Network.
- Action Networks will show activity by submitting annual reports (by May 30) to the Board to continue to receive CDS recognition and support.
