Name: |
Letitia (Tish) Johnson
|
What I am working on: |
My professional happy place is the intersection of social work and community development, combining the focus on social issues with the processes of CD -- diversity and intercultural competency; leadership development (adults and youth); civil dialogues; food policy council formation and community food systems; and more.
|
My Achievements: |
Riding that huge wave of community development work like a pro surfer -- balancing several different projects and obligations, avoiding the sharks and rip-tides, forging new channels...with only the occasional wipe-out.
|
Work experience / Education: |
Working as a community development specialist with University of Missouri Extension since 1996; current title (brace yourself) is County Engagement Specialist in Community Economic Development. After serving rural counties along the Mississippi River (South of St. Louis) for 19 years, I moved to small urban community of Columbia MO in 2014, still off-campus but now a mere eight miles away from MU. Received my bachelor's from Indiana University in 1993; Master of Social Work from Washington University, St. Louis, in 1996.
